The Short Version
Eighteen years ago, MMG called us about their server room. We built them a new network from scratch and swapped it in over a weekend. They’ve been with us ever since.
A lot has changed in 18 years. Six acquisitions. Eight locations. A 10x increase in size. We’ve been there through all of it: folding new companies in, rebuilding what aged out, keeping things running while the business grew around them.
This year, MMG got CMMC Level 2 certified. That’s a bar most defense subcontractors haven’t cleared yet. They cleared it because the work to get there had been quietly happening for years.
Why CMMC LEVEL 2 Matters
CMMC Level 2 reflects how a business operates. How data moves, who can touch it, what gets logged, what gets backed up, and what happens when something goes wrong. CMMC is not something that can be bolted on at the last minute.
For defense subcontractors like MMG, certification is no longer optional. Primes are increasingly required to source from a certified supply chain. Most subcontractors in MMG’s position haven’t gotten there. MMG has.
What Was At Stake
CMMC Level 2 is the bar primes now require. If MMG hadn’t cleared it, the contracts would have started drying up. Slowly at first. Then all at once. MMG wasn’t going to wait around to find out exactly when.
18 Years. 6 Acquisitions. 8 Locations.
Since 2008, MMG has grown tenfold. They’ve acquired six companies. They operate out of eight physical locations, all unified into a single cohesive network we built and maintain. We also provide and run their VoIP across every site.
Acquisition integrations don’t get easier with practice, they become more important to get right. The longer we’ve worked together, the better we’ve gotten at folding new entities into MMG’s environment without disrupting either side.
Getting to CMMC Level 2
Eighteen years of working in MMG’s environment meant we didn’t have to discover it from scratch. We knew where everything lived. We knew the dependencies, the workarounds, the history. That made the gap analysis faster and the implementation cleaner.
Most providers couldn’t run a CMMC Level 2 process on day one of a new client relationship. The work was substantial. The relationship made it possible. The depth of our relationship accelerated at every phase. For new clients, our CMMC practice brings that same rigor, built into a structured onboarding process from day one.
